Join Richard Gere, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Tibetan leaders and other special guests for a historic rally and candle light vigil in support of the Tibetan people and their struggle for basic human rights. As China prepares to host the Olympics in August, the government is conducting the worst crackdown in Tibet since the 1960s Cultural Revolution.
Come show your support for the Tibetan and Chinese people on the eve of the Beijing Olympic torch passing through San Francisco - the only stop in North America.

We expect a crowd of over 2,000 people to come out in support of human rights in Tibet. Tibetans and Tibet supporters from all over the country are making the journey to San Francisco. Already we have reports of bus loads of Tibetans coming from New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington, Oregon, and Southern California.
We expect massive press coverage of this event. Journalists are hungry for a human rights angle to their coverage of the official Beijing Olympic Torch - especially after the earth-shaking events that have recently unfolded in Tibet - and this vigil will be a powerful moment in the Tibet movement. If your schedule or travel availability permits, please join us in San Francisco. Now, more than ever, the people of Tibet need your help.
This event is cosponsored by the International Campaign for Tibet, Amnesty International, Students for a Free Tibet, Tibetan Association of Northern California, Regional San Francisco Tibetan Youth Congress, Bay Area Friends of Tibet, Committee of 100 for Tibet, International Tibet Support Network, International Tibet Independence Movement, and Santa Barbara Friends of Tibet.
